2. belief, assumption

Indicates what the speaker believes or assumes to be the case (sometimes contrary to reality).

ちゃんとやったつもりです。

I believe I did it properly.

Expressing belief about one's own action

若(わか)いつもりでも、体(からだ)は正直(しょうじき)です。

Even if you think you're young, your body is honest.

Xのつもり = believing oneself to be X

説明(せつめい)したつもりだったのに、全然(ぜんぜん)伝(つた)わっていなかった。

I thought I had explained it, but it didn't get through at all.

つもり follows the plain form of verbs to express intention: 行くつもり (intend to go), 行かないつもり (intend not to go). Can also express one's belief or self-assessment: Aのつもり (I think/believe I am A). The kanji 積(つ)もり exists but hiragana is standard. Compare with 予定(よてい) (scheduled plan).
