WRITING:
Also written as 無理矢理(むりやり). The hiragana-kanji mix 無理(むり)やり is more common in everyday writing.

FORMATION:
無理(むり) (unreasonable) + やり (doing). Literally "doing something unreasonable."

NUANCE:
Always carries a negative connotation of using excessive force or ignoring resistance. Stronger than 強引(ごういん) (pushy).
