Relying on physical strength or coercive power rather than reason, negotiation, or skill. Almost always used in the pattern 力(ちから)ずくで (by force).
力(ちから)ずくで扉(とびら)を開(あ)けた。
He forced the door open.
力(ちから)ずくで連(つ)れて行(い)かれた。
I was taken away by force.
問題(もんだい)を力(ちから)ずくで解決(かいけつ)しようとしても、相手(あいて)の反発(はんぱつ)を招(まね)くだけだ。
Even if you try to resolve problems by force, you will only provoke resistance from the other party.

Used almost exclusively in the pattern 力(ちから)ずくで (by force, using brute strength). Contrasts with 話(はな)し合(あ)い (discussion) or 説得(せっとく) (persuasion) as a means to an end.
