2. contact, getting in touch
Communication or connection with someone, especially initial or deliberate contact.
先方(せんぽう)にコンタクトを取(と)る。
I'll contact the other party.
まだ相手(あいて)とコンタクトが取(と)れていない。
I haven't been able to get in contact with them yet.
イベントの件(けん)で担当者(たんとうしゃ)にコンタクトを取(と)ってみます。
I'll try contacting the person in charge about the event.

コンタクト has two distinct uses in Japanese.
