Usage

Sense 1 is most commonly used in ピースサイン or simply ピース (the V-sign gesture). In Japan, holding up two fingers in photos is ubiquitous and is called ピース.

Sense 2 is used for individual components, especially puzzle pieces. Also used as a counter-like suffix for sliced items (ケーキ()ピース = two pieces/slices of cake).
