The administrative office of a town (町). Handles resident registration, tax collection, permits, and other local government services. Equivalent to a city hall but for smaller municipalities classified as 町.

USAGE:
Used for municipalities classified as 町. Larger municipalities classified as 市 use 市役所 (city hall), while villages use 村役場 (village office). In Japanese administrative structure, 町 falls between 市 (city) and 村 (village).
