A series of consecutive holidays spanning several days. Most commonly refers to Golden Week in late April to early May, but also applies to other extended holiday periods like the New Year break or Obon.
Usage
大型連休 most commonly refers to Golden Week (ゴールデンウィーク), the cluster of national holidays from late April to early May. NHK and other broadcasters use 大型連休 instead of the trademarked term "Golden Week."
It can also refer to:
- 年末年始 (New Year holiday period)
- お盆休み (Obon vacation in mid-August)
- シルバーウィーク (Silver Week in September, in years when it forms)
