A traditional festival on March 3rd celebrating the health and happiness of girls. Families display ornamental dolls on tiered platforms and eat special foods like chirashi sushi and hina arare.

The Peach Festival is held on March 3rd to pray for the healthy growth and happiness of girls.
CULTURE:
Also called ひな祭り (Doll Festival). One of the 五節句 (five seasonal festivals). The name comes from the peach blossoms (桃の花) that bloom around this time. Families with daughters display elaborate tiered platforms (雛壇) with ornamental dolls representing the imperial court. Traditional foods include 菱餅 (diamond-shaped rice cakes), 雛あられ (bite-sized rice crackers), and 甘酒 or 白酒.
