A classification label indicating that a document or piece of information is restricted to employees of the company and must not be shared externally. Commonly stamped or printed on sensitive business documents.
A compound of 社内 (within the company) and 秘 (secret, confidential). This label is a standard part of Japanese corporate document classification. It is often stamped in red on the cover or header of documents.
DOCUMENT CLASSIFICATION LEVELS (from least to most restricted):
- 社内限り: for internal distribution (less restrictive)
- 社内秘: confidential within the company
- 部外秘: confidential outside the department
- 極秘: top secret
