Even drinking a small amount of alcohol can result in driving under the influence.
A legal traffic offense distinct from 飲酒運転 (drunk driving). 酒気帯び運転 refers specifically to driving with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.15mg/L or above (but below the 0.25mg/L threshold for the more serious charge).
