もの as a sentence-ending particle has two main uses.

SENSE 1 - REASON/EXCUSE:

  • Casual, often feminine or childish tone
  • Often paired with だって (but...)
  • Shortened to もん in very casual speech: (さむ)いんだもん
  • Can sound like an excuse or complaint

SENSE 2 - GENERAL TRUTH (ものだ):

  • Expresses something natural, expected, or self-evident
  • Often conveys "that's just how things are"
  • More neutral in tone than sense 1
