一月(いちがつ)一日(ついたち)は元日(がんじつ)です。
January 1st is New Year's Day.
来月(らいげつ)の一日(ついたち)から新(あたら)しい仕事(しごと)が始(はじ)まる。
The new job starts from the first of next month.
毎月(まいつき)一日(ついたち)に家賃(やちん)を払(はら)う。
I pay the rent on the first of every month.

一日(ついたち) is the first day of the month. This is a special reading of 一日(いちにち).
