八日(ようか) uses native Japanese counting and means both "eight days" (duration) and "the 8th" (date).

Usage

Days 11-31 use the regular 十一日(じゅういちにち) pattern, except 十四日(じゅうよっか), 二十日(はつか) and 二十四日(にじゅうよっか). The 8th's special reading does not carry over: the 18th is 十八日(じゅうはちにち) and the 28th 二十八日(にじゅうはちにち).
