USAGE:
Sense 1 is used in university names (e.g., 法学部(ほうがくぶ), 医学部(いがくぶ), 工学部(こうがくぶ)). Sense 2 distinguishes undergraduate from graduate level: 学部生(がくぶせい) (undergraduate student) vs. 大学院生(だいがくいんせい) (graduate student).
