Not matching what fits someone's income, age, or social position, usually because it is too much or too grand. Most often heard in the set phrase 分不相応(ぶんふそうおう).
分不相応(ぶんふそうおう)な暮(く)らしをする。
To live beyond one's means.
年齢(ねんれい)不相応(ふそうおう)な派手(はで)な服(ふく)を着(き)ている。
She's wearing flashy clothes that don't suit her age.
