Usage

アポ is a business appointment - a meeting arranged in advance with a client, a contact, or a company. It is not used for a doctor's appointment or a restaurant booking, which take 予約(よやく).

• アポ営業(えいぎょう) - appointment-based sales, as against 飛(と)び込(こ)み営業(えいぎょう) (cold calling)
• アポなし訪問(ほうもん) - an unannounced visit, generally treated as rude in Japanese business culture

Casual business slang; acceptable in speech and internal messages, but replaced in formal writing by:

• 約束(やくそく) (appointment, arrangement)
• 面会(めんかい)の予約(よやく) (a booked meeting)
