2. how (much), no matter how
Used with ても/とも to express 'no matter how' or to emphasize degree.

No matter how difficult it is, I won't give up.
如何(いか)(かれ)天才(てんさい)であっても、一人(ひとり)では限界(げんかい)がある。

如何(いか)に is a formal adverb with two main uses: asking "how" or "in what way," and expressing "no matter how" with ても/とも.
