The correct Japanese is アボカド (from Spanish/English "avocado"). A common error is アボガド (with ガ instead of カ), which even many native speakers use.

Avocado is extremely popular in Japan, appearing in sushi (especially 海鮮サラダ rolls), salads, and as a side dish with soy sauce and wasabi. It became widely available in Japan starting in the 1980s.
