From English "agent." In everyday Japanese the most common use is for business agents, especially 転職(てんしょく)エージェント (job placement agent).

Watch out

A travel agency is 旅行代理店(りょこうだいりてん), not a エージェント. A double agent is usually 二重(にじゅう)スパイ.
