To put someone or something forward as a candidate, recommendation, or choice. Used when supporting or endorsing a person for a position, or recommending something as the best option.
彼(かれ)を会長(かいちょう)に推(お)す。
To nominate him as president.
委員会(いいんかい)は全会一致(ぜんかいいっち)で彼女(かのじょ)を候補者(こうほしゃ)に推(お)した。
The committee unanimously endorsed her as a candidate.
この店(みせ)なら自信(じしん)を持(も)って推(お)せる。
I can recommend this restaurant with confidence.
2. to support enthusiastically, to be a fan of (modern slang)
In modern Japanese, especially among younger speakers, to passionately support a celebrity, character, or idol. Related to the noun 推し (おし, one's favorite).
あのアイドルを推(お)している。
I'm a fan of that idol.
推(お)しているグループのライブに行(い)った。
I went to a live show of the group I support.
誰(だれ)を推(お)すかで友達(ともだち)と盛(も)り上(あ)がった。
My friends and I got excited talking about who we each support.

推(お)す has both a traditional meaning (to recommend/nominate) and a modern slang meaning (to be a passionate fan of someone). The modern usage has become extremely widespread in Japanese pop culture.
