Usage

Used to distinguish informal daily wear from formal attire (正装(せいそう)) or work clothes (仕事着(しごとぎ)). A practical, everyday word.

• 普段着(ふだんぎ)で出(で)かける (to go out in casual clothes)
• 普段着(ふだんぎ)のまま (still in casual clothes, as one is)
• 普段着(ふだんぎ)に着替(きが)える (to change into casual clothes)

Forms

普段(ふだん) (usual, everyday) + 着(ぎ) (wearing, clothes). The き becomes ぎ due to rendaku.
