GRAMMAR:

Attaches to the past tense (た-form) of verbs and adjectives:

  • ()ったものの (bought, but...)
  • (たか)かったものの (it was expensive, but...)

Sometimes used with present tense in more formal writing: ()かるものの (although one understands...).

SIMILAR WORDS:
