quantityabstract
1. endlessly; on and on; as far as one can see
Of space or a continuing scene: extending without any visible limit. Typically used of roads, skies, fields, and the sea.
(みち)どこまでも(つづ)
The road goes on and on.
An endlessly blue sky stretched out above.
Outside the window, fields stretched away as far as the eye could see.
2. thoroughly; to the very end; utterly
Of attitude or degree: refusing to stop or compromise, or being something completely. Often carries admiration or exasperation, depending on context.
どこまでも(やさ)しい(ひと)だ。
He is kind through and through.
She refused to bend her opinion, no matter what.
He is honest to the core; he won't lie even when he knows it will cost him.

Composed of どこ (where) + まで (up to) + (even). The literal "even to wherever" underlies both senses: unlimited extent in space, and refusal to stop short in attitude.
