A counter for counting the duration of time in months. Different from 月(がつ) which is used for naming specific months.

ヶ月(げつ) counts the duration in months. It's written with the small ヶ character. Common forms include 一(いっ)ヶ月(げつ) (one month), 二(に)ヶ月(げつ) (two months), 六(ろっ)ヶ月(げつ) (six months - note the っ), 十(じゅっ)ヶ月(げつ) (ten months). Compare with 月(がつ) (for naming months: 一(いち)月(がつ) = January).
