(かれ)ら is the third-person plural pronoun, formed from (かれ) (he) + ら (plural suffix).

TRADITIONAL USAGE:

  • All-male groups
  • Mixed-gender groups

MODERN USAGE:
Increasingly used gender-neutrally, especially in writing.

PRONOUN SYSTEM:

  • (かれ): he → (かれ)ら: they (m/mixed)

NOTE:
