Japan has no president: the head of government is the 首相(しゅしょう) or 総理大臣(そうりだいじん) (Prime Minister), and the 天皇(てんのう) (Emperor) is the symbol of the state, with ceremonial duties.

Watch out

大統領(だいとうりょう) is only the president of a country. The president of a company is 社長(しゃちょう); of a university, 学長(がくちょう); of an association, 会長(かいちょう).
