鈴 refers to small bells that jingle. This is different from 鐘, which refers to large bells that are struck.

CULTURAL NOTE:
At Shinto shrines, visitors ring a large 鈴 to announce their presence to the deity before praying. 風鈴 (wind chimes) are a summer tradition in Japan.
