The traditional Japanese seasoning order 「さしすせそ」:
- さ = 砂糖 (sugar) - add first
- し = 塩 (salt)
- す = 酢 (vinegar)
- せ = 醤油 (soy sauce)
- そ = 味噌 (miso) - add last
This order is based on molecule size and how flavors penetrate food. Sugar's larger molecules need more time to absorb.
