To go to a parent, teacher, or authority figure and report what someone has done wrong. Commonly used by or about children.
先生に言いつけるよ。
I'm going to tell the teacher on you.
弟がお母さんに言いつけた。
My little brother told on me to Mom.
「言いつけてやる」と子どもが泣きながら走って行った。
"I'm going to tell on you!" the child said, running off in tears.

This verb has two distinct usages that depend on context. The "tell on" sense is very common in children's language, while the "order" sense appears in broader contexts.
SENSE 1 — TATTLING:
Very common in childhood contexts. The pattern is: XにYを言いつける (to report Y's behavior to X). Often used as a threat: 「言いつけるよ！」
SENSE 2 — ORDERING:
Implies giving a directive from a position of authority. Can sound somewhat old-fashioned or stern compared to modern alternatives.
