2. one after another; in rapid succession; thumping (footsteps)
Describes things happening or arriving one after another in quick succession, or originally the heavy thumping sound of footsteps. The 'in succession' meaning is the more common modern use.
注文(ちゅうもん)がどしどし入(はい)ってきた。
Orders kept coming in one after another.
大(おお)きな足音(あしおと)がどしどしと近(ちか)づいてきた。
Heavy footsteps came thumping closer.
