1. together with; along with (a person or thing)
Attaches to a noun to mean 'in the company of' or 'in addition to.' Somewhat formal; と一緒(いっしょ)に is the everyday equivalent.
To live together with one's family.
I sent a gift along with my thanks.
The representative attended the press conference together with the players.
2. as; at the same time as (something changes)
Marks two changes that proceed in step: as the first thing progresses, the second happens too. Common with nouns like 時代(じだい), 年齢(ねんれい), and 成長(せいちょう).
It changes with the times.
My physical strength has declined with age.
Along with advances in technology, the way people work is also changing greatly.

The particle plus (とも) (together). Written とともに in kana or (とも) in kanji; the kana form is more common in ordinary writing.
