1. to come; to go (humble)

Humble form of 行く and 来る, used when referring to one's own movement.

ただいま参(まい)ります。

I'm coming right away.

Humble announcement

明日(あした)、会社(かいしゃ)に参(まい)ります。

I will go to the company tomorrow.

お客(きゃく)様(さま)のところに直接(ちょくせつ)参(まい)りますので、しばらくお待(ま)ちください。

I will come to you directly, so please wait a moment.

2. to visit (a shrine or temple)

Used specifically for visiting sacred places.

神社(じんじゃ)に参(まい)りました。

I visited the shrine.

お正月(しょうがつ)に家族(かぞく)で近(ちか)くの神社(じんじゃ)に参(まい)った。

We visited a nearby shrine as a family on New Year's.

毎年(まいとし)、祖母(そぼ)と一緒(いっしょ)にあのお寺(てら)に参(まい)ることにしている。

Every year, I make it a point to visit that temple with my grandmother.

参る is the humble form for both 行(い)く and 来(く)る, as well as the standard term for visiting shrines/temples.
