Humble form of 行く and 来る, used when referring to one's own movement.
ただいま参(まい)ります。
I'm coming right away.

Used specifically for visiting sacred places.
神社(じんじゃ)に参(まい)りました。
I visited the shrine.

We visited a nearby shrine as a family on New Year's.
毎年(まいとし)、祖母(そぼ)と一緒(いっしょ)にあのお寺(てら)に参(まい)ることにしている。

参る is the humble form for both 行(い)く and 来(く)る, as well as the standard term for visiting shrines/temples.
