絶対 (absolute) + に (adverbializer)
USAGE PATTERNS:
- 絶対に + affirmative → definitely, certainly
- 絶対に + negative → never, absolutely not
INTENSITY:
One of the strongest emphatic adverbs in Japanese. Using it conveys very strong determination or prohibition.
CAUTION:
Overuse can sound dramatic or immature. In formal contexts, 必ず (certainly) may be more appropriate for affirmative sentences.
