絶対(ぜったい) (absolute) + に (adverbializer)

USAGE PATTERNS:

  • 絶対(ぜったい)に + affirmative → definitely, certainly
  • 絶対(ぜったい)に + negative → never, absolutely not

INTENSITY:
One of the strongest emphatic adverbs in Japanese. Using it conveys very strong determination or prohibition.

CAUTION:
Overuse can sound dramatic or immature. In formal contexts, (かなら)ず (certainly) may be more appropriate for affirmative sentences.
