To wear something on one's head, such as hats, caps, helmets. Different from 着(き)る (torso) and 履(は)く (lower body).

Please put on a hat.

The person wearing a red hat.

ヘルメットをかぶりましょう。

Let's put on helmets.

The sun is strong when you go outside, so it's better to wear a hat.

The children wear white hats to go to school. In summer it's hot, so hats are very important.

TRANSITIVITY: 他動詞(たどうし) (transitive). No pair verb. Pattern: Xをかぶる (wear X on head).

ASPECT: ている indicates resulting state. かぶっている = 'is wearing (hat)' (not 'is putting on').
