甘味(あまみ)

甘味(あまみ) is sweetness as a quality of taste (sense 1), and by extension sweet things to eat (sense 2).

Formation: 甘(あま)い 'sweet' + 味(み) 'taste.'

Two readings, and they split the two senses:

• あまみ is the reading for sweetness as a flavour — what a 桃(もも) or a トマト has.
• かんみ is used for sweets as food, and is fixed in the compounds below.
