A place so different from ordinary surroundings that it feels like a separate world. Almost always positive: quiet, beautiful, or refreshingly free of everyday pressures.
ここはまるで別天地(べってんち)だ。
This place is like another world.
山(やま)の上(うえ)は静(しず)かで、別天地(べってんち)のようだった。
The mountaintop was quiet, like a world apart.
都会(とかい)の騒音(そうおん)を離(はな)れると、この島(しま)はまさに別天地(べってんち)である。
