1. to become cloudy, to cloud over
Describes weather becoming overcast with clouds covering the sky. The opposite of ()れる (to clear up).
(そら)(くも)ってきました。
The sky is clouding over.
It will probably be cloudy tomorrow.
I heard it will cloud over from the afternoon.
It's been cloudy since morning today, and you can't see the sun.
When the weather gets cloudy, my mood gets dark too. I like sunny days.
2. to fog up, to become dim
Can also describe glasses, mirrors, or windows fogging up.
眼鏡(めがね)(くも)った。
My glasses fogged up.
(かがみ)(くも)っています。
The mirror is fogged up.
When you take a bath, the windows fog up.
In winter, glasses fog up immediately when you go inside from outside.
My glasses fogged up in front of the hot food. I couldn't see anything and it was a problem.

TRANSITIVITY: 自動詞(じどうし) (intransitive). No pair verb. Pattern: (そら)(くも)る.

ASPECT: ている indicates resulting state. (くも)っている = 'is cloudy' (current weather state).
