I'm aiming for first dan in karate.
書道(しょどう)で五段(ごだん)まで取(と)った。

3. paragraph, column
A section of text or a column in a newspaper.
新聞(しんぶん)の一段(いちだん)に記事(きじ)が載(の)っていた。
