2. to omit; to leave out
To skip or leave out parts of something, especially in explanations or presentations.
説明(せつめい)を略(りゃく)して結論(けつろん)に移(うつ)ります。

The rest is omitted.
Common in formal writing
時間(じかん)がないので、途中(とちゅう)の手順(てじゅん)を略(りゃく)して進(すす)めよう。
Since we don't have time, let's skip the intermediate steps and move forward.

TRANSITIVITY: 他動詞(たどうし) (transitive). Pattern: Xを略(りゃく)す.

ALTERNATE FORM: 略(りゃく)する (する-verb form) is also common.
