An alcoholic drink, typically whisky or shochu, mixed with water. One of the most common ways to drink spirits in Japan.

焼酎は水割りで飲むのが好きだ。

暑い日には、氷をたっぷり入れた水割りが格別においしい。
On a hot day, a water-diluted drink with plenty of ice is exceptionally delicious.
USAGE:
水割り is formed from 水 (water) + 割る (to dilute). The pattern ~割り is used for various dilution methods: 炭酸割り (with soda water), お湯割り (with hot water).
