A compound of 観 (to perceive/contemplate) and 想 (to think/imagine). In Buddhist practice, 観想 refers specifically to the meditation technique of visualizing a sacred image, deity, or concept in one's mind. It is a central practice in esoteric Buddhism (密教).
Not to be confused with the homophones 感想 (impression/thoughts about something), 乾燥 (dryness), or 完走 (completing a race). The suru-verb form 観想する means "to contemplate."
