1. to expose; to leave out in the open

To expose something to natural elements like sun, wind, or rain.

布団(ふとん)を日(ひ)に晒(さら)す。

To air out the futon in the sun.

洗(あら)った米(こめ)を風(かぜ)に晒(さら)して乾(かわ)かした。

I dried the washed rice by exposing it to the wind.

3. to expose to danger/ridicule; to make public

To put oneself or something at risk, or to make something publicly known.

危険(きけん)に身(み)を晒(さら)す。

To expose oneself to danger.

恥(はじ)を晒(さら)すことになった。

I ended up making a fool of myself.

彼(かれ)は不正(ふせい)の証拠(しょうこ)をネットに晒(さら)して、会社(かいしゃ)の秘密(ひみつ)を世間(せけん)に知(し)らしめた。
