To pray or make a wish, often at a shrine or temple.
神社で合格をお願いした。
I prayed for success at the shrine.

お願いする is the polite way to make a request. It is the honorific form of 頼む (to ask/request) and is essential for daily polite communication.

SENSE 2 (PRAYER):
At shrines and temples, お願いする means to pray for something or make a wish: 神様にお願いする (to pray to God/the gods).
REGISTER:
お願いする is polite and appropriate in most situations. For casual requests, use 頼む instead. For very formal written requests, 依頼する is used.
