Usage

A 追試験(ついしけん) may be offered when:
1. A student was absent due to illness or emergency
2. A student failed and is given another chance
3. There were problems with the original exam
At some schools 追試(ついし) specifically means a resit for students who failed, while 追試験(ついしけん) also covers those who had a valid absence.
