スープ (from English 'soup') refers to Western-style soups, and also to the broth or liquid base of a dish — most commonly ラーメンのスープ, the soup of a bowl of ramen.

Watch out

Japanese usually treats スープ as something you drink: スープを飲(の)む, even with a spoon, and the same goes for 味噌汁(みそしる). For a chunky soup full of ingredients, 食(た)べる is also heard.
