急行は追加料金がかかるけど、普通列車より早く着くから便利だ。
The express costs extra, but it's convenient because it arrives faster than the local train.
急行 refers to express trains that skip some stations for faster service.
TRAIN TYPES (slowest to fastest):
- 普通/各駅停車: local (all stops)
- 快速: rapid
- 急行: express
- 特急: limited express
- 新幹線: bullet train
COMMON EXPRESSIONS:
- 急行電車: express train
- 急行に乗る: to take the express
- 急行で行く: to go by express
NOTE:
Some express services require 特急券 (express ticket) or 急行券 in addition to the basic fare. Private railways often have different naming conventions.
