  • A length of time is counted with 〜ヶ月(げつ): 六(ろっ)ヶ月(げつ) (six months), not 六月(ろくがつ).

Cultural note

  • Most of Japan (except Hokkaido) experiences 梅雨(つゆ) (rainy season) in June
  • Despite the rain, "June bride" (ジューンブライド) weddings are popular due to Western influence
  • 衣替(ころもが)え (seasonal clothing change) traditionally happens June 1st
