1. official residence
A house provided at public expense to a high-ranking official — a prime minister, governor, mayor, or ambassador — for the duration of the post. The occupant lives there but does not own it.
知事(ちじ)は公邸(こうてい)に住(す)んでいる。
The governor lives in the official residence.
首相(しゅしょう)公邸(こうてい)で記者(きしゃ)会見(かいけん)が開(ひら)かれた。
A press conference was held at the prime minister's official residence.

Formed from 公(こう) (public) + 邸(てい) (mansion, residence). Usually appears attached to the title of the post: 首相(しゅしょう)公邸(こうてい), 知事(ちじ)公邸(こうてい), 大使(たいし)公邸(こうてい).
