ASPECT (ている):
打ち上げている describes a launch in progress or a repeated practice, not a resulting state. For something that has already been sent up and is now in orbit, use the passive 打ち上げられている.
Usage
Sense 1 covers anything sent up into the sky by its own thrust or by an explosive charge - fireworks, rockets, satellites, signal flares.
Sense 2 is almost always expressed with the noun form 打ち上げ rather than with the verb, which is why the sense 2 examples below all use the noun:
- 打ち上げをする (hold a wrap-up party)
- 打ち上げに行く (go to the wrap-up party)
- 公演の打ち上げ (post-performance party)
- 撮影の打ち上げ (filming wrap party)
