Common patterns

署名(しょめい)する is 自動詞(じどうし) (intransitive): the document signed is not a direct object.
What is signed takes に, not を: 契約書(けいやくしょ)に署名(しょめい)する (sign the contract). 署名(しょめい)を appears when the signature itself is the object, as in 署名(しょめい)を集(あつ)める (collect signatures).
